punggol food

Beyond just the glorious sunset of the Waterway Park, Punggol may be a less explored neighbourhood of waterfront housing and quiet nature parks. But, you might just change your mind with these five hidden gems of Punggol that have been delighting the locals with great tasting eats that are worth the visit. In no particular order:

Guinness Beef Stew, Georges By The Bay

This casual Balinese-inspired bistro pub boasts a sweeping view of the Punggol waterfront, a delectable western menu, and a decent drink list of wines, beers, and spirits. If you’re looking to entertain your guests without much effort, Georges By The Bay hits all the right spots.

We highly recommend the Guinness Beef Stew ($22.90+) of select cut beef cooked in potent beer for hours.

Kagoshima Buta Teriyaki, Izakaya 95

Tucked discreetly at the second floor of Punggol settlement, the strength of Izakaya 95 lies in their grilled selections of seafood, meats, and vegetables. But the highlight of the experience belongs to their Kagoshima Buta Teriyaki ($20), which is notable for its tender meat sourced directly from Japan.

A kanpai with their house special sake is appropriate for any kind of celebration.

Original Sembawang White Bee Hoon, White Restaurant

What started out as a simple Chinese zi char, this place has become synonymous with their best-in-the-land Original Sembawang White Bee Hoon (from $7.70). One of the best comfort foods in Punggol, the bee hoon is drenched in a smooth and flavorful sauce with prawns and squid, and amplified by a squeeze of lime and a bit of red chilli.

So good, it is impossible to dismiss. Prepare to wait in a long queue to be served.

Crispy Pork Knuckle, Trunk 95 At Bay Seaside

You’ll be immediately transported to the Land of Smiles with the lush and comfortable setting of Trunk 95, and feast on their award-winning dishes of truest and authentically Thai flavours and ingredients. What won our hearts the most are the refreshing Glass Noodle Seafood Salad ($12) and the crispy and succulent Pork Knuckle ($28).

If you could, reserve a seat on the terrace for a fantastic view of the waters.

Chili Crab, Uncle Leong Seafood

Among the many seafood restaurants in Punggol, Uncle Leong remains to be one of the front-runners when it comes to their signature crab dishes. Satisfy your crustacean craving with their very plump, very fresh Sri Lankan crab dishes of either Chili Crab, Crab Bee Hoon, or the Shimmering Sand Crab that are lip-smackingly good and are reasonably priced.
